We may have been quiet in recent weeks but it’s been anything but quiet here at Chilcott.
The last few weeks we’ve been very productive, with the team busy at work high up in the Brecon Beacons ensuring that the lavender is carefully harvested.
Surrounded by the sweet scent of this year’s bumper crop, we’ve been buzzing around the fields amongst the bees, gathering, cutting and bundling the lavender before transporting the crop to the lavender barn for drying for use in our handmade lavender bags and botanicals.
It's been hot work and the recent warm bout of weather has certainly speeded up the timing of the harvest. But there has been little to complain about. Who wouldn’t love to work in these glorious conditions, carefully cutting and bundling this beautiful plant?
The Chilcott harvesting team comprises a fabulous group of people from our brilliant gap year student to our young 76-year-old! All helping with the harvest at various times over recent weeks.
We are very pleased to say the lavender has now all been carefully cut and bunched by hand. We have, however, left some older plants for the bees, who are as crazy about the blooms as we are!
The lavender is now all drying in the barn, ready to be used to create a range of natural fragrances, carefully blended and beautifully presented to elegantly complement any home.
The best room diffusers use our bespoke blend of fine natural essential oils that will gently fill the room with a natural perfume, with our lavender diffuser being a firm favourite.

We also use our lavender to create Scented Bags, the perfect complement to any wardrobe or draw, they’re also attached to our range of British Wool Blankets and Luxury Alpaca Hot Water Bottles. This ensures that each blanket and ‘hottie’ stays beautifully fragranced for years to come.
Don’t forget, when a Chilcott Lavender Bag finally loses its scent, you can simply post it back to Chilcott with a return address, and it’s replenished free of charge!
We have also taken the opportunity to plant new lavender and some rosemary, which will provide another bumper crop next year.
Of course, there is still the office admin to look after, with orders coming in thick and fast which keeps the Chilcott office staff busy whilst the harvest has been taking place. So please get in touch if you have any enquiries, we are always here to help you!
At Chilcott, sustainability is at the heart of all that we do, from the way we grow our lavender to the wool that we use. Chilcott is a truly British business. We believe we should tread lightly in the world and appreciate what we have around us.
